Elizabeth Pfeiffer grew up in New York State, where her love of art was encouraged by family, friends, and teachers. She took a variety of art classes while earning her degree from college. Art has always been a part of her life and her creativity took many forms – but transparent watercolor is her favorite medium.

Paintings selected for numerous juried exhibitions have earned Elizabeth many awards and prizes. She has exhibited her work at the Salmagundi Club and other New York City galleries and participated in solo shows and group exhibits throughout the New York / New Jersey area – including the New Jersey Water Color Society’s Exhibit at the Monmouth Museum. Her work has been shown in the Paterson Museum and the Bergen Museum, also in New Jersey. Ms Pfeiffer's watercolors are included in numerous private collections throughout the country.

Elizabeth fell in love with the beauty of the Southwest after her move to Phoenix. Shapes and patterns of the desert are often seen in her artwork. She became a juried member of the Sonoran Arts League and participated in their weekly Art Talks and Sketch Group activities. She participated in the Empty Bowls Project and the Hidden in the Hills Studio Tour and several other exhibits.

The Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture, in collaboration with the Street Transportation Department, Arizona State University and the Seventh Avenue Merchants Association, selected Elizabeth Pfeiffer to create artwork that was incorporated into streetscape along Seventh Avenue. Two original paintings were reproduced, enlarged and fabricated into backlit signage that is installed in the public right-of-way.

Elizabeth’s images were selected by the Water Conservation Manager of Glendale to be use in a joint venture between the City of Glendale and Lowes Stores in Arizona the Water Use it Wisely campaign. Her photographs of the Glendale Xeriscape Garden have been included in the Snapshots of Glendale section of the Glendale Visitor Center website.

The Glendale Library invited Elizabeth to serve on the selection committee for the Habitat Garden Outdoor Classroom Public Art Project. One of her images is currently on the Glendale Library’s Member’s Card.
As part of the initial start-up team for a retail store, her creativity was evident everywhere. Her artwork was used for the logo, the newsletters, the website, and store signage. Merchandise displays she created won many awards and were featured in a few trade publications. The appealing promotions attracted people from across the valley to patronize the unique destination store.

Also, Elizabeth has been working on new designs, exploring fabric dying, surface manipulation and embellishment to create several art quilts. Her quilt titled, Shapes of the Desert, received an award in the Arizona Quilters Guild show. She became a member of the Studio Art Quilt Association, and her art quilts were juried into the SAQA Exposures show in Chandler.

Ms Pfeiffer’s paintings were juried into the Surprise Invitational at Art HQ. She was awarded the first-place prize. As a member of the Ground Floor Artists, she shared studio space and participated in member and juried shows.
She is a member of the Arizona Watercolor Association. Her work has been juried and accepted into Vanguard Artists and the Contemporary Watercolor Artists. More recently, a painting was the Phoenix Zoo’s Wild Side Gallery’s first juried show Inspired: Arizona Artists Celebrate the Natural World.
