Karen is a native of the Midwest by way of Michigan and Chicago, who now calls Arizona home.

Art has been a part of her life since childhood. Although she made a career as an attorney, she found time over the years to take classes in colored pencil, pastel and watercolor. Subsequently, she left the practice of law to focus on raising her twin daughters and as they got older found more time for art.

As the lockdown of 2020 disrupted everyday life, she filled the abyss by focusing her energy on watercolor painting. What once occupied a few hours a month became a passion that meaningfully filled days.

Karen enjoys challenging herself by taking watercolor classes at the Scottsdale Artists School and through the Arizona Watercolor Association’s (AWA) member and juror workshops. She also participates in a community art group within McDowell Mountain Ranch as well as online groups.

Her consistency and focus has helped her to gain the following admissions to and awards from, juried art shows:
