Hazel Stone

I am Hazel Stone, a long-time Phoenix, Arizona resident and Innovative Artist in Watermedia, Watercolor and Acrylic Painting on Paper. I am a Signature Member of these fourteen Watercolor Societies across America, listed as acquired: Taos National Society of Watercolorists, Philadelphia Water Color Society, International Society of Experimental Artists, Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona, Arizona Watercolor Association – Gold Member, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Northwest Watercolor Society, Arizona Aqueous, Kansas Watercolor Society, Pikes Peak Watercolor Society, Texas Watercolor Society Purple Sage/Life Member, Red River Watercolor Society, Mississippi Watercolor Society and the Western Colorado Watercolor Society. Mybiographical listing is in Who's Who of American Women, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the West. My paintings have been published in several books and mentioned in many art periodicals.

Since 1986, my paintings have been juried into a very long list of International, National, Regional and Local Watercolor Exhibitions across the USA and abroad, often garnering awards. I have organized and hung a One-Person Museum Exhibition, a Two-Person Museum Exhibition and many small and large group exhibitions. Several additional Solo Exhibitions have been hung. My paintings hang in notable corporate and personal collections across the country. I have been commissioned to paint several very special watercolors for corporate and personal collections.

I have served as Juror for several Arizona Art Exhibitions choosing both the accepted paintings and deciding on the awards. I have conducted many painting demonstrations, many one-day adult watermedia workshops and several children's drawing and painting classes.

I have been very involved in the artist community in these wonderful ways: General Chairman and Exhibition Chairman of the Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona from 2002 to 2004, Chairman of the Arizona Watercolor Association National Watercolor Exhibition 2000 at the Chandler Center for the Arts and Co-Chair of the 1999 Arizona Watercolor Association National Watercolor Exhibition at Sun City Art Museum. I have served as Exhibition Coordinator for the Waterworks Artists since 2002. These exhibitions have earned us our outstanding reputation.

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, attended public school and graduated from the University of Utah College of Nursing with Bachelor of Science Degree and Registered Nurse Certification. After working in the hospital and clinics, I taught Sophomore Nursing Students Medical-Surgical Nursing classes for two years. Following the births of my two wonderful daughters, I was compelled to draw and paint, then study and explore Art History. Gradually, I realized that ART had become my "Life's Passion" that would forever guide my life. This amazing journey has led to a very satisfying and happy life as a busy and successful professional watermedia artist.
