Sherry Whitney

Raised just an hour’s drive from NYC, Sherry reaped the benefit of exposure to art culture at an early age with visits to art museums and art exhibits. Her grandmother was a watercolor artist and when she could no longer paint Sherry wanted to give her grandmother the gift of knowing her art would continue through her.

It wasn’t until she and her husband retired from their photography business that Sherry took up painting in earnest, taking classes and workshops from local and internationally recognized artists including Stan Miller, Ted Nuttall, Patricia Guzman, and Bev Swensen.

Her art reflects her interest in people, their faces and their stories. She paints the emotions she sees, and invites the viewer to pause and look “into” and not just “at the faces before them.

Sherry is a Silver Signature Member of Arizona Watercolor Association, a member of Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona and several art critique groups.
